Sheltering CommunitiesCoastal Resilience Index

    The Coastal Resilience Index was developed by NOAA, Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium, Gulf of Mexico Alliance and Louisiana Sea-Grant College Program to help communities determine how prepared they are for future storm events and what to do in order to become more prepared. The index is meant for community leaders to get together and answer pertinent questions which lead them into discussion of how to improve areas of weakness.     Homeowner's Handbook to Prepare for Natural Disasters

    Designed specifically for homeowners, this handbook will serve as a critical resource for helping people reduce the threats that natural hazards pose to families and property. Currently the Mississippi handbook has been printed. Alabama's is being drafted and the other states are in development.
